ESL Documentation

ESL supports the mouse and the touchscreen as pointing devices.

The user invokes responses by using a mouse to point to graphical objects on the display. With a touchscreen, the user touches the object on a touchscreen.

Both pointing devices are global. If you open a pointing device in one program, the device remains open when control is transferred to another program (with the change to program statement). You do not need to reopen the device.

Mouse

When using a mouse, a Windows mouse pointer is visible on the display. To point to an object with a mouse, you move the mouse until the pointer is at the place on the display that you want to select. Press the left mouse button to invoke a response to the object beneath the pointer.

Touchscreen

In systems with a touchscreen, the surface of the monitor is sensitive to touch. Touch the object on the monitor to invoke a response to an ESL object.
