ESL supports hardcopy devices through the hardcopy interface provided by Windows.
Therefore, it supports devices that have a full Windows-compatible driver.
The quality and appearance of output from hardcopy devices will vary depending on their functional capabilities and the extent of their support under Windows. These dependencies include, among others:
•Colors and color mappings
•Size of output
•Font sizing and styles
The following describes the hardcopy support provided through Windows:
•Support is device independent (subject to the limits of the device and its Windows driver).
•All hardcopy devices that have Windows drivers are supported.
•The full resolution of the output device is used.
•Objects appear on the page the same relative size as on the screen.
•The Windows Control Panel controls portrait/landscape orientation.
•The plot command works in conjunction with the Windows spooler.
•The plot command may specify a particular printer or use the default printer. If the specified printer cannot be found, then a Printer Selection dialog is displayed, which enables the Operator to select the required printer.
The following restrictions apply:
•The Windows spooler must be active.
•Only ESL graphical and textual regions and keys can be output. Windows objects, such as dialog boxes, action bars, and so on, cannot be output. Bitmaps in image regions cannot be output.
•Any region with frame controls will appear on the output page with a 1-pixel wide border instead of the frame controls.
•Only color mapping controlled by the Windows Control Panel is supported.
