Q16 How long does it take to perform a "squeeze memory"?

Scroll Prev Top Next More

The larger the binary file, and the slower the computer, the longer this action will take; a typically large ESL program on an old slow PC (e.g. less than 500Mhz) will complete a squeeze in about a second. On current 2Ghz plus PCs, a “squeeze memory” should be completed in a fraction of a second. Although the time needed to perform a squeeze has reduced considerably, it is not the kind of thing you want to be doing at the end of every processing event, as it will affect the response time of the ESL application.
