ESL Documentation

The bind file and ESL action routines must have the same time/date stamp. This is important because the ESL action routines refer to specific locations in the bind file.

The SAM is the source of the bind file and the DB/Assist-generated action routines. Therefore, if you need to modify any SQL statements or generated code, do so by opening the existing SAM in DB/Assist. You can then change a particular statement's syntax, link variables to the modified statement, and recompile the SAM.

Because SAMs are so important to your application development with DB/Assist, we recommend that you store them using version control software.
